The 53rd running of the Irish Oaks was held on Wednesday 23rd July 1947 over 1 1/2 miles of The Curragh, starting at the Howth Post. A pot of 2000 sovereigns was availble, 300 sovereigns to the second and 200 sovereigns to the third. The winner was trained by Darby Rogers and ridden by M Moloney. The winner won by a 3/4 length, with 2 lengths between second and third. |
